Owner Sail Away Travel

Welcome to my travel blog. I wanted to create this blog to share my passion for travel, and to share my experiences and the knowledge I've gained throughout my extensive traveling. Even as a young girl I had a passion for travel. I belonged to 4-H and participated in their summer exchange program to travel to other states, staying with another 4-H family. I requested visitor kits from every state in the USA and would sit for hours looking at all the places I could travel. In 1974 three of my friends and I took a trip to Aruba. Hardly anyone had heard of Aruba back then. I joined the US Air Force in 1978 and my first assignment after training was the Azores. While in the Azores I took leave to travel to Germany, Austria, and England. I was then sent to Virginia, then later the Philippines where I took leave to Japan and Korea. I took my first cruise in 1981 to Puerto Rico, St Thomas, and Nassau, Bahamas. This started my love affair with cruising which is at 103 cruises and still counting today. Through ocean cruises and river cruises I've covered a lot of ground throughout the world. I've been to six of the seven continents, with Australia remaining. I've taken an African Safari, snowmobiled in Iceland and Sweden, walked in the footsteps of the WWII 101st Airborne from Normandy to Bastogne, waterskied in the South China Sea, walked the Wall of China, crawled through the Chu Chi Tunnels in Vietnam, prayed at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and celebrated St Patrick's Day in Dublin, Ireland. These are just a few of the many memorable travels I've experienced. I am now an independent travel agent and love planning trips for others to enjoy my same passion for travel. I hope you'll enjoy reading my travel blog and travel along with me through my eyes.
